Areas of Practice

personal injury

Gibby Andry and his firm are committed to securing financial compensation for the life-altering effects of the most severe injuries, from amputation to third-degree burns.  Gibby has carried the fight successfully against most major insurance firms and their attorneys, whose only motivation is to limit their losses. The greater the injury, the harder they resist.

CAR ACCIDENTS

The long-term financial costs of a severe or catastrophic car accident can be significant when lost wages and the enormous cost of medical bills – physical therapy, reconstructive surgery, etc. - are taken into account.  At the law office of Gibby Andry, we work with medical economists and life care planers who accurately quantify the full financial impact of a car accident on catastrophic injury victims and their families. Since most insurers try to reduce the amount of money they pay in claims, we also prepare our cases with input from medical experts who can verify the scope and nature of our client’s injuries.

PEDESTRIAN ACCIDENTS

Pedestrian accidents often injure those who are most vulnerable — school children walking to and from school, or elderly persons trying to cross busy streets. Another common type of pedestrian accident occurs when a car hits a pedestrian in the crosswalk because the driver is looking at traffic, and not at the pedestrian.

WRONGFUL DEATH

A “wrongful death” occurs when a person is killed due to the negligence or misconduct of another individual, company or entity. Every state has a civil “wrongful death statute,” or set of statutes, which establish the procedures for bringing wrongful death actions. A suit for wrongful death may only be brought by the personal representative of the deceased person’s estate on behalf of the statutory beneficiaries, and the most common beneficiaries are surviving spouses and children, and sometimes parents.

AMPUTATIONS - LOSS OF LIMB

An amputation or loss of limb refers to the loss of a body part as the result of an accident or injury. The amputation may be considered major or minor and may be a complete or partial loss. A loss of limb can occur as a result of injuries sustained in an automobile or truck accident, accidents in the workplace, from the use of power tools, or from accidents in a factory or on a farm. If you or a loved one has suffered a loss of limb or amputation as the result of an accident involving someone’s negligence or carelessness, contact an experienced attorney immediately. The Law Firm of Gibby Andry is experienced in handling cases involving this type of injury.

SEVERE BURNS & ELECTROCUTIONS

Burn injuries are the most horrific type of injury a person can experience. A burn injury will no doubt cause severe physical damage, including scarring and disfigurement, but the victim will almost certainly suffer emotional damage as well. If you are a loved one who has suffered a burn injury, or if a family member has lost their life to fire, contact the law firm of Gibby Andry today. The Law Firm of Gibby Andry has successfully represented families who have suffered through the trauma of this type of injury.

TRUCK ACCIDENTS

The tremendous difference in size and weight between tractor trailers and motor vehicles often turns into disaster for motorists. It has been estimated that as many as 10% of all fatal accidents are caused by semi-trucks.

WORKPLACE ACCIDENTS

• Employee Injury
• Workers’ Compensation
• On the Job Accident

The victims of workplace accidents are often left with injuries that keep them out of work for either a significant period of time or permanently. If you have suffered a debilitating injury in a workplace accident, you need the help of an experienced workers’ compensation attorney.

SPINAL CORD INJURIES

Spinal cord injuries leave many paralyzed, or unable to feel or move a part of their body. Typically, paralysis occurs downward from the point of injury or trauma to the spinal cord. The level of paralysis may vary, it may be permanent or temporary, and may involve many different organ systems. In fact, spinal cord injuries can cause paralysis which could affect bowel or bladder control, sexual function and even the ability to breathe. Paraplegia is a term which refers to a person who cannot feel anything in the lower part of his or her body. Quadriplegia refers to the inability to move the arms and legs. If you or a loved one is now a paraplegic or quadriplegic as a result of an accident or injury caused by someone else’s negligence or carelessness, contact the law firm of Gibby Andry today for a free consultation.

SERIOUS BACK AND NECK INJURIES

There are many causes for neck and back pain. Your pain may last a couple of days or you can suffer with the pain for a lifetime. Whiplash, sprains and strains, herniated discs, and fractured vertebrae may be the cause of your pain. An injury could occur as the result of your occupation or from a sudden jerking movement, such as those caused by an automobile accident. If your pain has been caused by someone else’s negligence or carelessness, you need the assistance of an experienced attorney.

BUSINESS LITIGATION

For a large part of the last decade, Andry has successfully litigated claims for businesses against other businesses, including big insurance, for breach of contracts, negligent misrepresentation, and unjust enrichment, which caused damage to Andry’s clients.  Andry has successfully recovered millions of dollars for his hospital clients who were extremely underpaid by the big health insurance companies. Those claims also involved the application and successful prosecution against big health insurance companies for violation of the Louisiana Unfair Trade Practice Act (LUTPA).

MOTORCYCLE/BICYCLE ACCIDENTS

Bicycle and motorcycle accidents result in injury or death far more often than automobile accidents, largely because bikes and motorcycles offer virtually no protection in a crash. Contrary to popular belief, most bicycle and motorcycle accidents are not caused by careless riders. They result from other drivers not keeping a proper lookout, or not respecting a motorcyclist’s equal right to the roadway, faulty traffic lights or signs, or roadway defects.

DEFECTIVE PRODUCTS

At the law office of Gibby Andry, we have recovered millions of dollars for clients injured as a result of defective products. We have successfully litigated and recovered compensation for victims of defective products including recovering compensation for victims of faulty hip replacements, faulty industrial equipment in industrial and oil sites, defective conveyor belts and dangerous farm machinery.

PARALYSIS / QUADRIPLEGIA / PARAPLEGIA

Paralysis involves the loss of function of the muscles in a part of your body. The level of paralysis may vary: it can be permanent or temporary; it can be complete or partial; it can occur on one or both sides of your body; and it can be widespread or in just one area.

TRAUMATIC BRAIN INJURIES (TBI)

Traumatic brain injuries can have devastating and life-altering consequences not only for the victims, but also for their families. For two decades, Gibby Andry has represented victims of mild, moderate, and severe traumatic brain injury. Auto accidents and other vehicular accidents are the primary causes of traumatic brain injuries, but falls, industrial/occupational accidents, sports injuries, and physical assaults are also common causes.

You or a family member may have heard your doctor use phrases like “closed head injury” or “post-concussion syndrome” to describe your medical condition. Severe traumatic brain injury can cause medical conditions like seizure disorders, skull fractures, subdural hematomas, brain hemorrhage, amnesia and/or contusion of the brain. Mild traumatic brain injury can be hard to recognize.
